Sight & Sound Theater — 3-day family retreat
New England Sarau (NES) is a Christ-centered, volunteer-driven ministry committed to empowering churches, individuals, families and communities across New England.
NES was founded in September 2009 by a small group of Christians from the Church of the Nazarene in Dorchester, Massachusetts — with the goal of uniting believers and providing real opportunities to live out the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves. From the first Sarau Fests at Brockton Nova Aliança and at Ebenezer and Second Church in Dorchester, we have grown into a regional ministry of programs, retreats and partnerships — but the table is still the same: open, plural, and centered on Christ.
A Brazilian Portuguese word for a gathering event created to celebrate cultural identity — music, food, art, shared experiences, wisdom, talents, beliefs, traditions. For us, sarau names the celebration and uniting of diverse cultures into one body in Christ.
From the lighthouse coast of Maine to the shores of Rhode Island — one fellowship.
Every Sarau, every bus seat and every retreat scholarship is made possible by neighbors who give — quietly and faithfully.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly… for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Cor. 9:7
